The app logs active and recent calls within 24 hours, lists them in plain text and displays them on an interactive map with hybrid and satellite views. You can choose to be notified of incidents by type when they are dispatched, such as structure fires and vehicle accidents. In addition to the lifesaving CPR notifications, the application provides a complete virtual window into our public safety communications center. Note: user notification only occurs after the 9-1-1 system has been activated.
The application also directs these citizen rescuers to the exact location of the closest publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator (AED). If the cardiac emergency is in a public place, the location-aware application will alert trained citizens in the vicinity of the need for bystander CPR simultaneous with the dispatch of our crews to the medical emergency. When the Hilton Head Island 911 Communications Center dispatches emergency responders to a cardiac emergency, PulsePoint users located within a quarter mile of the incident are simultaneously alerted. Application users who have indicated they are trained in CPR and willing to assist in case of an emergency can now be notified if someone nearby is having a cardiac emergency and may require CPR. PulsePoint Respond empowers everyday citizens to provide lifesaving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest. The PulsePoint Respond smart phone app is ready to turn bystanders into potential lifesavers when a sudden cardiac arrest occurs in a public place in BC. Only incidents that happen in a public place trigger a notification. PulsePoint is a smartphone app (Android™ or iPhone®) that alerts users who are trained if someone nearby in a public place has called 9-1-1 with an emergency that requires CPR.
